HIFU at a clinical standard
HIFU, or high-intensity focused ultrasound, delivers precise energy to the deeper structural layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer targeted in surgical facelifts. This stimulates collagen production and causes tissue contraction, producing a lifting and tightening effect over the weeks following treatment, without surgery or downtime.
The depth of energy delivery is what makes HIFU different from surface-level skin treatments. It also means that the device settings and the clinical judgement of the person operating it have a direct effect on both results and safety. At Changes Clinic, our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners carry out every HIFU assessment and treatment. The consultation determines your skin quality, your anatomical structure and the appropriate treatment parameters for your face and neck.
Our CQC-registered clinic at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth uses medical-grade HIFU devices. This is not the same technology as the lower-powered portable units available in many salons. The energy levels, penetration depths and cartridge types are calibrated for clinical outcomes. You can find more detail on our HIFU service page.

What we treat
HIFU at Changes Clinic targets skin laxity in the face, jaw, neck and brow area. Treatment is particularly effective for jowling, loose neck skin, brow heaviness and the gradual loss of facial definition that comes with collagen depletion. It is also used for body skin tightening on the abdomen, thighs and upper arms.
Results build progressively over 2 to 3 months as new collagen forms. Most clients notice early improvement from 4 to 6 weeks after their treatment.

Common questions
How far is Changes Clinic from Alton?
Our clinic is at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth. From Alton, the drive via the A31 takes approximately 40 to 45 minutes. Free parking is available at the clinic, so you can factor that saving into the overall value of attending.
Is a consultation required before HIFU?
Yes. HIFU treatment is planned individually for each client. The consultation determines which areas to treat, which cartridge depths are appropriate for your skin thickness and anatomy, and what results are realistic for your starting point. Our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners sets all treatment parameters based on this assessment. The consultation is free and there is no commitment to proceed.
How long do HIFU results last?
Results typically last between 12 and 18 months. The collagen response triggered by HIFU continues to improve your results for several months after the treatment session. After that, the natural ageing process resumes. Most clients return for a maintenance treatment once a year to sustain the improvement.
What makes Changes Clinic different from a beauty salon or non-clinical provider?
HIFU devices range from medical-grade systems to low-powered consumer units. The results and the risks are proportional to the technology. At Changes Clinic, our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners use a medical-grade HIFU system and sets treatment parameters based on a clinical assessment. Many salons offer HIFU using underpowered devices without the training to assess suitability or recognise contraindications. The clinical environment and the practitioner qualification are what give you a treatment that is both safe and effective.
