HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It delivers precise beams of ultrasound energy to a targeted depth within the skin and underlying tissue, triggering a controlled thermal response that stimulates collagen production and, at deeper levels, targets the SMAS layer. The SMAS is the muscular and fascial layer that surgical facelifts address through incision. HIFU reaches it without breaking the skin.
At Changes Clinic, your HIFU treatment is planned and delivered by our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners. The planning step matters. The depth and energy settings your clinician uses depend on your skin thickness, tissue quality and the areas you want to treat. A standardised HIFU session applied without this assessment delivers a predictable, generic result. A clinically planned treatment targets the right tissue depth for your anatomy.
We use HIFU for facial and neck lifting and tightening. The treatment stimulates your body's natural collagen production, so results develop over the weeks and months following treatment as new collagen forms in the treated area. This is a gradual improvement, not an instant one.

What we treat
HIFU treats facial and neck laxity, jowling, loss of skin firmness on the brow, cheeks and jawline, and loose skin on the neck and decolletage. It is most effective for clients who have mild to moderate skin laxity and are looking to lift and tighten without surgery.
HIFU is not appropriate for clients with very advanced laxity, as the degree of correction achievable without surgery has limits. Your qualified, experienced & insured practitioners will advise at the consultation whether HIFU is the right treatment for your concern or whether a combination approach would deliver a better result.

Common questions
How far is Changes Clinic from Chichester?
Changes Clinic is at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth. The drive from central Chichester takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes via the A27 heading east. There is free parking on site at the clinic.
Is a consultation required before HIFU treatment?
Yes. Your qualified, experienced & insured practitioners needs to assess your skin laxity, tissue quality and treatment goals before determining the appropriate HIFU parameters for your face. The assessment also covers your medical history and any contraindications to HIFU treatment. This is a free appointment and carries no obligation to book treatment.
How long do HIFU results last?
Results from HIFU typically last up to 18 months. The treatment stimulates your own collagen production, and results continue to develop for several months after the session as new collagen forms. Annual maintenance sessions extend the effect. Clients who treat consistently over time tend to see cumulative improvement.
What makes Changes Clinic different from a beauty salon offering HIFU?
HIFU is a medical-grade technology that delivers ultrasound energy into the skin and underlying tissue. Incorrect settings can cause burns or nerve discomfort. At Changes Clinic, your treatment is planned by a qualified, experienced & insured practitioner with a clinical understanding of tissue anatomy and safe energy parameters. We operate under CQC registration. Many beauty salons offer HIFU using lower-specification devices operated by staff without the clinical background to adapt the protocol to different skin types and depths.
