Laser hair removal at a clinical standard begins with the right technology and the right qualifications. At Changes Clinic, our practitioners hold VTCT Level 4 qualifications in laser and light treatments — the benchmark qualification for safe laser practice in the UK. We work from our CQC-registered clinic in Portsmouth, around 15 minutes from Gosport via the Fareham road.

The lasers we use matter. We operate diode and Nd:YAG laser systems — not IPL (intense pulsed light) devices, which are a different technology often found in salons under the same label of "laser hair removal." Diode laser is highly effective on fair to medium skin tones. Nd:YAG is the clinically supported choice for darker skin tones, including skin tones where other laser systems carry an elevated risk of pigmentation changes. We treat all skin tones safely.

We review your medical history, including any medications that may affect your skin's light sensitivity, and we run a patch test on the treatment area. What we treat

We provide laser hair removal for the face and body. Common treatment areas include the upper lip, chin, jawline, underarms, arms, bikini line, Brazilian, legs, chest, back, and shoulders. We treat men and women across all skin tones.

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicle with a concentrated beam of light. The follicle absorbs the energy, which disrupts its ability to produce hair. Multiple sessions are needed because hair grows in cycles and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to treatment.

I’ve suffered with rosacea for several years and have tried all sorts of creams, skincare routines and products, but nothing really made a lasting difference. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great staff. My lazer hair removal was undertaken by two very capable proffessional young women Kelly and Surmaiyah. Both demonstrate constant care and ensure this not always comfortable experience is as pleasant as possible. The facility is immaculately clean and there is excellent visitor free parking available. Is a consultation required before laser hair removal?

Yes. Before your first treatment session, we carry out a full skin and hair type assessment and run a patch test on the area to be treated. This confirms that the laser settings we plan to use are appropriate for your skin tone and hair colour, and that you have no contraindications — such as photosensitive medications or certain skin conditions — that would affect treatment. The consultation is free and takes around 30 minutes.

How long do laser hair removal results last?

Most clients achieve a significant and long-term reduction in hair growth after completing a full course of 6 to 8 sessions. Some clients find hair regrowth minimal enough to class as permanent. Hormonal changes — such as those linked to pregnancy, menopause, or conditions like PCOS — can stimulate new follicle activity over time, which may require occasional top-up sessions.
