How Laser Hair Removal Works at Changes Clinic
Step 1 — Your free consultation and patch test
Your practitioner assesses your skin tone and hair type using the Fitzpatrick scale, selects the correct laser and settings, and carries out a patch test on the treatment area. The patch test result is reviewed before your first full session. We also discuss the number of sessions you are likely to need and what to expect between them.
Step 2 — Your treatment sessions
Each session targets hair follicles in the active growth phase. The laser energy is absorbed by the follicle, disabling regrowth. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to catch each new growth cycle. Treatment time varies by area, from 15 minutes for the upper lip to around 60 minutes for the full legs.
Step 3 — Your results
You will notice a reduction in hair density and regrowth speed after the first 2 to 3 sessions. A full course of 6 to 8 sessions delivers lasting reduction in most clients. I’ve suffered with rosacea for several years and have tried all sorts of creams, skincare routines and products, but nothing really made a lasting difference.
Looking after my skin and being mindful of my diet definitely helps to keep it under control, but IPL at Changes Clinic has made the biggest difference by far. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great staff. My lazer hair removal was undertaken by two very capable proffessional young women Kelly and Surmaiyah. Both demonstrate constant care and ensure this not always comfortable experience is as pleasant as possible. The facility is immaculately clean and there is excellent visitor free parking available.
I have no hesitation in recommending the clinic to others and whilst I can only comment on the treatments I have received to date I will be availing myself of some of the others services offered.

I am so glad I visited the Changes Clinic today for an upper abdominal ultrasound. I was a nervous wreck as I have a bit of a phobia of scans & Andrea was just brilliant with me. What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a free consultation and patch test. Your practitioner assesses your skin tone and hair type, selects the appropriate laser settings and applies the laser to a small test area. You return approximately 48 hours later to check the patch test site, or we review it at your next contact. Once the patch test is clear, your first full treatment session is scheduled. The consultation normally takes around 30 minutes.
Am I a suitable candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal works on most skin tones and hair types, though it is most effective on darker hair. Very fine, blonde, grey or red hair contains less pigment and does not respond as well to laser energy. Active tanning, certain medications and skin conditions in the treatment area may delay the start of treatment. Your practitioner assesses all of this at your consultation and will be honest about the level of reduction you can expect.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. You can split your laser hair removal course across 3 monthly payments with Klarna at 0% interest. This makes it easy to spread the cost of a full course without paying everything upfront. Ask us about this when you book.
