VTCT Level 4 qualified, not a beauty treatment
Clinical-grade laser hair removal starts with qualified hands and the right technology. At Changes Clinic, all laser hair removal is carried out by VTCT Level 4 qualified, experienced & insured practitioners at our CQC-registered clinic at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth. VTCT Level 4 is the recognised qualification for laser practitioners in the UK — it covers laser physics, skin biology, safety protocols, and clinical assessment for all skin types.
Before your first session, our practitioners conduct a full skin and hair assessment. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, your hair colour and texture, and the treatment area to select the correct laser parameters. This assessment is not a brief consultation before we start — it determines how we treat you and whether laser is appropriate at all.
We use diode and Nd:YAG laser systems, not IPL. IPL (intense pulsed light) is a broad-spectrum light source used in beauty salons. Laser delivers a single, targeted wavelength that selectively targets the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin. This distinction matters significantly for safety and effectiveness, particularly for clients with darker skin tones.

What our clients say
Common questions
How far is Changes Clinic from Worthing?
Changes Clinic is at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth. The drive from Worthing is approximately 40–45 minutes via the A27. Free parking is available at the clinic.
Is a consultation required before laser hair removal?
Yes. Before your first treatment, our VTCT Level 4 practitioners conduct a skin and hair assessment to determine the appropriate laser settings for your skin type and hair colour. This assessment also checks for any contraindications that would make laser unsuitable. We do not treat without this assessment in place.
How long do laser hair removal results last?
Laser hair removal delivers long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Most clients achieve 70–90% reduction in hair growth after a full course of sessions. Hair that does return is typically finer and lighter. Occasional top-up sessions can maintain results, and many clients go a year or more between maintenance treatments.
What makes Changes Clinic different from a salon offering laser or IPL?
Our practitioners hold VTCT Level 4 qualifications and operate from a CQC-registered clinic. We use medical-grade diode and Nd:YAG laser systems, which are more effective and more targeted than IPL devices found in beauty salons. Our clinical setting means rigorous assessment protocols, proper skin classification before every course, and appropriate aftercare guidance. Laser used without proper qualification and calibration carries real risks, particularly for darker skin tones.
