Will lip fillers look overdone — and how do I avoid the results I see going wrong online?
The overdone look associated with lip fillers is real, and it puts a lot of people off a treatment that, when done correctly, produces results most clients are very happy with. Understanding why it happens is a better guide to avoiding it than simply hoping for the best.
The duck lip effect, extreme projection and unnatural volume all share a common cause: too much product, placed without reference to the natural proportions of the individual's face. The lips have a natural ratio to each other and to the surrounding facial features. When filler ignores those proportions, the result looks wrong regardless of how skilled the injection technique was.
At Changes Clinic, our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners assess your lip anatomy and facial proportions before any product is used. We discuss the outcome you want in concrete terms: more definition, more volume, border enhancement, or symmetry correction. The amount of filler used is decided by what your face needs to achieve that specific result, not by a standard amount applied to every client.
If you are considering a subtle first treatment, we will plan it that way. If you want a more noticeable change, we will tell you honestly what is achievable within natural-looking parameters.

About lip fillers at Changes Clinic
Our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners use hyaluronic acid-based fillers to add volume, define the lip border, improve symmetry and restore definition that has softened over time. We treat both the upper and lower lip and can address the cupid's bow, philtrum columns and perioral area where appropriate.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin. It integrates with the tissue and can be dissolved if required, which gives both client and practitioner the ability to adjust the result if needed. Swelling immediately after treatment will make the lips appear more pronounced than the final result — this settles within 48 to 72 hours.

What our clients say
Common questions
Are lip fillers safe?
Hyaluronic acid lip fillers are safe when administered by a qualified, experienced & insured practitioner following a proper clinical assessment. Common side effects include swelling, bruising and temporary tenderness, which settle within a few days. The most serious risk with lip injections is vascular occlusion, where product inadvertently enters a blood vessel, and this is why treatment should always take place with a practitioner trained to identify and manage this complication. Our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners are trained in both injection safety and complication management.
How are lip fillers different from a lip flip?
A lip flip uses small amounts of anti-wrinkle injections into the muscle around the upper lip, causing it to roll outward slightly. It creates the appearance of a slightly fuller upper lip without adding volume. A lip flip does not increase actual lip size and the effect lasts six to eight weeks. Lip fillers add genuine volume and definition and last considerably longer. Some clients find a lip flip a useful introduction before committing to filler, and both can be combined at the right appointment spacing.
Can lip fillers be combined with other treatments at Changes Clinic?
Yes. Lip fillers are often combined with anti-wrinkle injections to address perioral lines alongside lip volume, or with dermal fillers to other areas of the face in a single treatment visit. Your qualified, experienced & insured practitioners will advise on what works well together and any timing considerations at your free consultation.
