Will permanent makeup look natural — and what if I want to change it later?
These are the two questions that hold most people back from booking, and both deserve a clear answer.
First, on naturalness. Permanent makeup done well is designed to be undetectable as a procedure. The goal is to create the impression of groomed, defined features — not to replicate a full face of cosmetics. Whether you want defined brows, an enhanced lash line or a subtle lip tint, the outcome depends on the practitioner's understanding of your face shape, colouring and personal style. At Changes Clinic, we carry out a detailed assessment and design consultation before any pigment is applied, and we discuss your preferred shape, colour and depth in detail before we begin.
Second, on change. Permanent makeup is long-lasting but not strictly permanent. The pigment fades over time, typically over one to three years depending on the area, the technique used and how your skin behaves. Adjustments and colour refreshes are possible. If your preferences change, your options are not closed off.

About permanent makeup at Changes Clinic
Our specialist practitioners use digital micropigmentation techniques to create lasting definition in areas including the brows, eyeliner and lips. Treatments include brow shading, brow mapping and design, lash line enhancement, and lip liner or blush tint.
The process begins with a consultation and design session. Your practitioner assesses your skin tone, facial structure and preferred style before selecting the right pigment colour and technique. A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment to minimise discomfort during the procedure.

Permanent makeup performed by our specialist practitioners
Micropigmentation involves placing pigment into the upper layers of the skin using a fine needle device. Precision and design skill both matter. Our practitioners combine technical knowledge of skin structure with an aesthetic eye for proportion and colour matching.
We work from a CQC-registered clinic at 1000 Lakeside, Cosham, Portsmouth. Your consultation covers your skin type, any contraindications, your desired outcome and the practical details of the healing process. We do not begin any treatment without this assessment.

What our clients say
Common questions
Is permanent makeup safe?
Micropigmentation is a well-established procedure with a good safety record when performed by trained practitioners in a clinical environment using sterile, single-use needles and regulated pigments. The most common effects are redness and minor swelling after treatment, which settle within 48 hours. Infection risk is low when aftercare instructions are followed. Our practitioners carry out a full consultation to screen for contraindications before any treatment is agreed.
How is permanent makeup different from microblading?
Microblading uses a manual blade to make fine cuts in the skin and deposit pigment in hair-like strokes. Digital micropigmentation uses a machine with a fine needle to deposit pigment more evenly and with greater control over depth and consistency. Microblading suits drier skin types and can fade unevenly on oily skin. Digital techniques tend to hold better across a wider range of skin types. Our practitioners will advise which approach is most appropriate for your skin at your consultation.
Can permanent makeup be combined with other treatments at Changes Clinic?
Yes, though timing matters. It is generally best to complete any injectable treatments to the face, such as anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers, before permanent makeup sessions, and to allow healing time after permanent makeup before booking skin treatments to the same area. Our team will advise on the right order and spacing if you are planning multiple treatments.
