How thread vein treatment works

We use laser light treatment to deliver controlled pulses of light energy directly into the visible blood vessel. The vessel absorbs the light, the wall collapses, and the body clears it away naturally over the following weeks. The surrounding skin stays unaffected.

It is the same technology we use for IPL skin therapy, applied here with specific settings optimised for vascular targets. Thread veins on the nose, cheeks and chin respond particularly well. Diffuse redness and flushing can also improve over a course of sessions.

What happens during your session

On the day, you will wear protective eyewear. The handpiece passes over the skin in short pulses. Most clients describe it as a warm snap — uncomfortable for a moment, not painful.

Redness and mild swelling in the treated area usually settle within 48 hours. The treated vessels darken briefly before fading, which is a normal part of the process.

I’ve suffered with rosacea for several years and have tried all sorts of creams, skincare routines and products, but nothing really made a lasting difference. Looking after my skin and being mindful of my diet definitely helps to keep it under control, but IPL at Changes Clinic has made the biggest difference by far. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great staff. My lazer hair removal was undertaken by two very capable proffessional young women Kelly and Surmaiyah. Both demonstrate constant care and ensure this not always comfortable experience is as pleasant as possible. The facility is immaculately clean and there is excellent visitor free parking available. Common questions

How many sessions will I need for thread vein treatment in Portsmouth?

Most clients need two to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Finer individual thread veins often clear in fewer sessions; diffuse redness across the cheeks or nose may need more. We will give you a realistic estimate at your free consultation after seeing your skin in person.

Does IPL thread vein treatment hurt?

Most clients describe it as a quick warm snap with each pulse -- noticeable but brief. We use a cooling handpiece to keep the skin comfortable throughout. There is no numbing cream required for the face. If you have a lower pain threshold, let us know and we can adjust the pace of the session.

Is thread vein treatment permanent?

The vessels we treat are permanently destroyed and will not return. However, the same factors that caused them -- sun exposure, temperature changes, genetics -- can produce new thread veins over time. Good sun protection after treatment gives you the best long-term result, and a maintenance session every year or two can keep things in check.
