What are cherry angiomas and how do we remove them?
Cherry angiomas are small, rounded growths made up of clusters of dilated blood vessels sitting close to the surface of the skin. They are typically bright red, though older or deeper ones can appear purple or dark brown. They are completely benign and pose no health risk -- but they can be cosmetically frustrating, particularly when they appear on the face, chest or shoulders in numbers.

We remove cherry angiomas using one of two methods depending on their size and your skin type.
Laser removal
A targeted laser pulse is absorbed by the blood vessels inside the angioma. The vessel walls collapse and the body breaks down the tissue naturally. This method is particularly effective for smaller cherry angiomas and leaves no open wound -- just a small mark that fades over days to weeks.
Electrocautery
A fine probe applies a precise electrical current to the angioma, cauterising the blood vessels and destroying the growth. Slightly more tactile than laser, but equally effective -- particularly for raised or larger cherry angiomas. A tiny scab forms and falls away within one to two weeks. Our practitioners will recommend the most appropriate method after assessing your cherry angiomas at consultation. We can treat multiple growths in a single appointment in most cases.
