Milia Removal Portsmouth
Milia are small, firm white or yellowish bumps that sit just beneath the surface of the skin. They look like whiteheads but they are not spots — they are keratin-filled cysts, and no amount of skincare will clear them. The skin simply does not have a pore large enough to release the contents on its own.
At Changes Clinic in Cosham, Portsmouth, our qualified, experienced & insured practitioners remove milia safely and precisely in a clinical setting. If you have been trying to get rid of white bumps on your face and nothing has worked, clinical removal is the only reliable answer.

What Milia Are
They are entirely harmless. They do not cause pain or infection and they are not contagious. But they are persistent. Unlike a conventional spot, milia do not have an opening to the surface, so they cannot drain or resolve through normal skin shedding. They can remain in place for months or years.
Exfoliants and retinoids may help prevent new milia from forming, but they will not remove existing ones. Only physical extraction shifts them.
How Milia Removal Works at Changes Clinic
We do not squeeze or press. The technique is designed to clear the cyst with minimal disruption to the surrounding skin, which keeps the risk of scarring low and recovery quick.
Because each milium requires individual attention, the time taken depends on how many you have and where they are located. Many clients clear multiple milia in a single session.
What to Expect
Before Treatment
We recommend attending a free consultation first so we can assess the milia, confirm they are suitable for removal, and advise on any aftercare. Some clients prefer to book a free consultation and treatment in the same visit — this is something to discuss when you contact us.
During Treatment
Most clients do not require any anaesthetic for milia removal. The procedure involves a brief sharp sensation as the needle creates the opening, followed by mild pressure during extraction. Topical anaesthetic cream is available if you prefer. A typical session lasts 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of milia being treated.
After Treatment
You will leave with some small red marks at each treated site. These fade over the following 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, the skin may take a few days longer to settle, particularly if the milia were numerous or located in sensitive areas. Most clients return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. We advise keeping the treated area clean and avoiding heavy makeup directly on the sites for 24 hours. Applying SPF is recommended, as with any skin treatment.
