Our team confirms what preparation is required for your scan type, for example, whether you need to attend with a full bladder for an abdominal scan or whether any fasting is needed. You receive clear instructions in advance of your appointment.

Step 2 — Your scan

Your sonographer conducts the scan in our clinical room using diagnostic ultrasound equipment. The probe is applied to the skin surface with ultrasound gel. Most scans take 20 to 45 minutes. You can see the real-time imaging on the screen. Your sonographer explains what they are looking at as the scan progresses.

Step 3 — Your written report

A written report is produced and provided to you directly. If you attended with a GP referral, the report is also sent to your referring clinician. I’ve suffered with rosacea for several years and have tried all sorts of creams, skincare routines and products, but nothing really made a lasting difference. Looking after my skin and being mindful of my diet definitely helps to keep it under control, but IPL at Changes Clinic has made the biggest difference by far. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great staff. My lazer hair removal was undertaken by two very capable proffessional young women Kelly and Surmaiyah. Both demonstrate constant care and ensure this not always comfortable experience is as pleasant as possible. The facility is immaculately clean and there is excellent visitor free parking available. When you contact Changes Clinic to book a scan, our team asks about the area you want scanned and the reason for the referral. Am I a suitable patient for a private ultrasound scan?

Most adults are suitable for a diagnostic ultrasound scan. Ultrasound is safe and does not use ionising radiation. Specific scan types have specific preparation requirements, and your sonographer will confirm what applies to you. If your clinical situation requires a different imaging modality, such as an MRI, your sonographer will advise you at or before your appointment.
